For any small business, email marketing is a must have tool for your marketing toolbox. When done well it can produce outstanding results as well as helping you to maintain a good relationship with your clients and build a passive income for your business.
The key to success in email marketing is getting a plan together before you start doing anything.
Compiling A Mailing List
This is where you begin, try to build a good quality list of emails, instead of buying hundreds of emails off the internet try going back through all the enquiries/ sales you have had since you started up and collect all the names and emails of those people, this way you will be targeting people who have already shown an interest in your product/service and will therefore be an easier sell as they should already have a bit of background knowledge about your business.
Don’t focus too much on the sale, focus more on building up a relationship with your readers – just moved into a new office? Got a new van? New employee? Tell them about it! People are genuinely interested in what you’re doing however they will lose interest if you’re constantly trying to sell to them.
This is the best bit. Make sure you use a good automated email marketing program – Mailchimp is a good example. By using software rather than doing it from an outlook account or similar, you will be able to track the number of opens your last newsletter got, who opened it, how many times and how many people clicked on the link to your website.
Make a mental note of every result, because then you can quickly learn what within your email marketing draws people in and best of all, what makes you the most money!
