For the majority of small business owners, networking is a vital component of their wider marketing strategy.
Networking is not just about promoting your wares, it is about building up connections, collaborative working arrangements and key partnerships. It is also about discussing your business with others and finding solutions to the challenges we all share.
There is an abundance of networking available. The issue is about what works, what is best and what delivers the results you want.
There are a few things you need to do to make your networking successful, in summary we would say these are –
- Pick and chose where you go
- Never sell at an event, build connections
- Find out who is going in advance
- Follow up afterwards
You also need to work out the cost of the networking, that doesn’t mean how much it is for breakfast, it means the true cost. This includes your time, travel, personal cost etc.
The lower the true cost the more likely you will be engaged and will get better results.
If you want an example of networking then have a look at this video. If you want to try a local event (there are over 5000 every year) then book on here, and give it a try.
