SME Fraud Scams

Business Fraud ScamsSME fraud warning

A study by the American organisation, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) showed that 50% of all businesses will be subject to some attempted fraud.

The level of fraud attempts against businesses has grown since the economic downturn in 2009 which is hardly surprising, however that trend does not appear to be abating with ever more ingenious and varied frauds coming to light.

For many SMEs fraud is associated with phishing or online scams. Security software and password protection is often considered to be their frontline protection. The problem is that fraudsters are being far more direct.

Barclays issued this video today, well worth taking a few minutes to watch:

Business fraud attempts are far more than hacking or phishing. Please be aware of the latest trends and try to stay one step ahead.
